RARE EVENT: SOLAR ECLIPSE
By: Aiden Kalantarov
On April 8th a rare event will occur here in the U.S, something called a total eclipse. A total eclipse is when the moon passes directly in front of the sun which results in there being a shadow casted over the earth. While you might want to look at the total eclipse be careful because if you look at it without proper protection you put yourself at risk of going blind. To be able to look at the eclipse you will need special glasses that protect you from the sun’s UV rays which are stronger during this event. While total solar eclipses happen every 18 months they can only be seen in certain parts of the world meaning that the next total eclipse that will be able to be seen from the U.S will be in 2044. So if you have the opportunity to see the eclipse you definitely should since it won’t be able to be seen from the U.S for another 20 years. On the day of the solar eclipse the school will be giving out glasses during extra help for people to go outside and see it themselves.
