CPHS Science Olympiads Compete THIS SATURDAY!

By Christian Ferrandina

Science Olympiad is a nationwide competition regarding different aspects of science from the medical fields all the way to geological and architectural fields of STEM. The program was established in 1974 with the sole purpose of improving science education within the United States. This year’s High School competition will be taking place this Saturday at Kellenberg Memorial High School and will last until around 3:00 pm.

This year will be the first time Carle Place will have a high school team participating in this competition! Carle Place also has a middle school team, which competes every year. In order to make this high school team, Science Olympiad advisor Mrs. Ramsawak has partnered with Mrs. Hengeveld’s Science Research students. This will allow for Carle Place to compete in a wide variety of competitions. These competitions include bridge building, disease detective, and Fermi questions to name a few.

Attached is a link to the different competitions and descriptions if you are interested. Best of luck to the Carle Place Frogs!
