Carle Place Varsity Soccer: 2023 Season Recap
By: Aidan Kalantarov
On October 31st our Boys Varsity Soccer team won the Long Island Championship final against West Babylon and are on their way to states. Ryan Leary and Tyler Aguilar scored, with saves from our goalkeeper Anthony Terrone who managed to keep a clean sheet, and the defense which was led by Blake Lyons. They were still undefeated with 15 wins this season up until Friday November 3rd where unfortunately they had a hard fought battle against Spakenkill with a 1-1 tie going into penalties they would eventually lose 8-7 on penalties. It was an unfortunate loss but they tried their best and did extremely well. A Newsday article was posted featuring Tyler Aguilar who’s had an amazing season so far and got player of the match for the Long Island Championship final. Ryan Leary who’s only in 10th grade scored a great goal for his team which helped lead them to winning the final. The leading scorer for the team is Ryan Leary with 9 goals and 8 assists as well as Jason Pereria (grade 11) with 9 goals and 4 assists. Goalkeeper Anthony Terrone with 8 clean sheets this season. Even though we didn’t win the boys did extremely well this season and will come back strong next season.
