November 20, 2019
The 2018-2019 school year marked the beginning of an amazing accomplishment for all the “theatre kids” at Carle Place…our very own Drama Club!

With a theatre program like the one we have at Carle Place, it’s hard to believe we didn’t have a Drama Club to begin with. The Drama Club was created by none other than our new Chairperson for the Fine and Performing Arts, Mr. Michael Limone. Mr. Limone is the head of our theatre program and decided to create a Drama Club for the students in order to create a stronger voice for the theatre program, as well as the arts.
The Drama Club kicked off their run at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year. All students involved in each production are encouraged to attend meetings. Additionally, students of all grades are welcome to join us at meetings as we discuss shows, field trips, workshops, and more!
As many other clubs do, the Drama Club ran elections for their officers for the 2019-2020 school year last April. The officers perform all sorts of tasks such as, lead meetings, make announcements, post flyers & posters around the school, and keeping club records. The officers and their positions are listed below.
President: Juliana Ferolie ’20
Vice President: Sydney Eichel ’20
Treasurer: Devin Eichel ’22
VP of Publicity: Lauren Deninno ’22
Historian: Charlotte Maher ’20

Whether you are a member of the cast, running crew, tech crew, or costumes, the Drama Club is open for you to join! If you are interested in helping out in crew or with events, feel free to attend a meeting. The Drama Club meets every Tuesday at 3:00 pm in the auditorium, with certain exceptions. The Drama Club went 0n a field trip earlier this month to LIU Post College in order to attend the event known as “Stage the Change.” This event, run by Broadway actor Gavin Creel, is a system of workshops showing how theatre can be used as a form as expression and can change the world for the better.
Another field trip has already been planned for later this winter. 10-15 members of the Drama Club will be attending the NYSTEA student theatre conference in Villa Roma from January 10-12. Students will be accompanied by our resident theatre directors: Mr. Limone, Mr. Plotkin, and Mrs. Gisondi. The NYSTEA trip is a three day experience of workshops. The workshop choices vary from costumes, stage management, dancing, singing, acting, directing, and more!
The Drama Club has also bee in involved in many events so far, such as a workshop session with two of Broadway’s famous performers, Tommy Bracco and Adam Kaplan.
Joining the Drama Club is an amazing experience for all students who enjoy theatre and the arts! Some pictures from our most recent productions can be seen below. See ya at the next meeting!
