The Carle Place Student Run Theatre Company. What is it?

Introducing the Carle Place Student Run Theatre Company, CPSRTC for short. The Student-Run production is a musical that is put together by a group of students. These students direct, produce, music direct, and choreograph their own Production of a Musical.

The first Student-Run production took place ten years ago with the musical, Grease. Since then, the Student-Run production has evolved into something greater than the founders could have ever imagined.

The Student-Run, or the Summer Show is rehearsed by students over the summer. Despite it being a school production, there is little to no teacher influence. How it works is, the group of students known as the Production Team come together to choose a show to perform over the summer. The Production Team consists of usually 6-8 people, each with their own or a shared positions. These positions include Director, Producer, Music Director, Choreographer, Stage Manager(s), Costume
Manager, Lighting Manager, and Sound Manager. A Pit Conductor may be added based on the quality of the music in the show.

The Student Run is available for all students in the High School or Middle School, including the incoming Seventh Graders from Rushmore. Grades 6-11 are able to audition for the show or help out with crew. The Summer Production is often the first opportunity kids have to be apart of the theatre program at Carle Place.

Recent productions include All Shook Up, Into the Woods, The Addams Family, and our most recent production, The Little Mermaid. This production was the last to be directed by our well-loved director, Juliana Ferolie. Juliana was also the director for The Addams Family. She has been a member of the CPSRTC since she was in Seventh Grade, her first show being 9 to 5. Throughout the years, Jules has participated in countless shows at Carle Place and is now the President of the CP Drama Club. In the past two years of directing the shows at Carle Place, Juliana has had an incredible impact on the Student-Run program.

The Student-Run production is a great opportunity for students to learn skills of responsibility, leadership, and resourcefulness in a comfortable, safe environment. Additionally, middle school kids get a chance to experience theatre and welcome it into their lives.
