What is Daylight Savings?

Deona Zani

During daylight savings the clock gets set one hour forward, giving more sun throughout the day. When you first wake up the sun is just rising and even during the night hours the sun is still out. Daylight savings usually makes people do more activities throughout the day because the sun being out longer allows for more leisure time. We can thank Benjamin Franklin, George Bernard Hudson, and William Willett for daylight savings. While examining the hours of the day and the sun they had an idea that would help seem like the sun stayed out longer. Daylight savings was firstly adopted during World War I, it was adopted so that the armies could keep their energy. Later on it was adopted in the US during World War II for war effort. All US states adopted daylight savings except Hawaii and Arizona because they wouldn’t have the benefit that the other states got from daylight savings.
