Midterm week can be stressful and overwhelming for all students at CP. The pressure to perform well on exams can lead to feelings of stress and anxiety. Whether this is your last midterm, or your very first one at Carle Place, it’s important for students to be well prepared, but to also take care of themselves during this time.

Here are some ways to finish your midterms STRONG!

  1. Start studying early. Do not wait until the last minute to start studying, you should give yourself enough time to review and understand the material. For example, you can make a study schedule and take practice quizzes or exams to help you get a better sense of what to expect on the actual test. It is also important to take breaks to give your mind a rest and avoid burnout.
  2. Get enough sleep. Sleep is important for memory and learning. Do not stay up all night cramming for your test, make sure you are getting enough sleep each night.
  3. Eating a balanced diet can help you maintain energy levels and focus. A good breakfast includes: whole-grain cereal with low-fat milk, eggs and toast with jam, oatmeal, or any food with lots of nutrition.
  4. Keep track of deadlines, assignments, and exam dates so you don’t miss anything important, and prioritize your tasks and use your time wisely.
  5. On the day of the test, arrive on time, bring all the necessary materials, and be mentally ready to take the test. To stay relaxed and calm during the test, take deep breaths and remind yourself that you have studied and prepared well

After you finish your tests, reward yourself with a treat, such as a nice lunch. Midterms are supposed to test your knowledge and prepare you for the final exam at the end of the year. Most importantly, be confident and have a positive mindset throughout the week because you got this!
