Spider-Man: No Way Home Review: “A good addition to Peter Parker’s story”

If you are a Marvel fan, a Spider-Man fan, or even just a Tom Holland fan, the new movie Spider-Man: No Way Home could become your favorite movie of the year. It was recently released in December, a perfect way to kick off the end of 2021.

For some of us, we are eager to see the movie as soon as we can in theatres. For others, we like to wait for ratings before deciding to spend our time and money. I watched the newest Spider-Man movie in theatres and I’ll give my honest, spoiler-free opinion for people who are still on the fence about sitting down in front of the big screen.

I had watched the previous Spider-Man movies in the series; Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home. I can confidently say that No Way Home was the most exciting of the three.

The movie starts directly after the events of Far From Home exploring the life of highschooler and superhero Peter Parker after the events of the aforementioned movie. The movie involves cameos from other famous characters such as Daredevil and Doctor Strange, the latter who will star in a movie this year. One of the most interesting parts of the movie, however, is the character dynamic between Peter and his girlfriend, MJ.

MJ and Peter’s best friend Ned play more of an important role in Far From Home than in the previous iterations. While it shows that they act as the ‘man in the chair’, supporting Spider-Man remotely, the movie also emphasizes the relationships between Peter and his friends. There are many scenes where MJ and Ned show how deeply they care for their friend and vice versa. In addition, MJ and Peter often have romantic moments together as expected of high school sweethearts.

There are many shocking twists in No Way Home that are worth experiencing for yourself. If you are a fan of the older Spider-Man movies, you’ll also be excited to see familiar faces returning. Personally, I would give the newest Marvel movie an 8/10. It was predictable at times, though still a good addition to Peter Parker’s story. I enjoyed watching Spider-Man: No Way Home, and I would recommend you watch it in theatres for the full experience.
