On February 14, 2020, Carle Place Middle/High School wore purple to participate in one of the biggest awareness campaigns all across New York State, P.S. I Love You Day. Led by the Middle School Student Organization and their advisor Ms. Kennedy, S.A.D.D., and their advisor Mrs. Dietz, the Unity Club and their advisor Mrs. Sullivan, and the school guidance counselors Mr.De Blasio, Mr. Santoro, Ms. Daas, Mr. Vella, and Ms. Molloy, the students and administrators spread awareness for a very important cause, mental health awareness. This campaign not only sheds light on serious topics like suicide and bullying, but also aims to spread kindness. P.S I Love You Day started out as day to commemorate a single suicide, about ten years ago, and now has turned into a state wide campaign. P.S. I Love You Day, takes place on the second Friday in February and this year has over 220 schools participating!
The students and the advisors worked very hard to create signs, posters, and even a photo booth, with facts about mental health, so that everyone can learn more about what they can do to help people. Thank you to all of the students and staff who helped make this day a big success and to those who helped spread awareness for a cause that impacts so many of our lives. In the spirit of P.S. I Love You Day, please remember that everyone has a special place in the world and there are always people willing to listen and to help you, if you give them the chance. You are never alone and no matter what, your story matters.
